THEATRICAL teenagers are being invited to sign up for a summer drama project which will give them a “unique experience” of physical performance making.

Young people with a passion for performing arts will have the opportunity to take part in a three-week course in physical theatre at artsdepot, in Tally Ho, from the end of July.

Participants will be directed by leading artists from the genre, who form the Frantic Assembly group, with the aim of devising a piece they can perform to an audience on August 13.

A taster workshop was held at the North Finchley studios last week, and organisers hope the course will draw in creative youngsters who are keen to learn about the highly visual form of theatre.

Tom Wilton, education officer at artsdepot, said: “We want to give young people a unique experience in theatre making.

“Frantic Assembly are world leaders in physical theatre. This is a wonderful opportunity for young people to work alongside high-calibre artists and understand how they work.

“Participants will be treated as professionals and have an extensive insight into the world of physical theatre makers. They will learn what is needed to make it in the industry.”

Places on the summer course, which is partly funded by the John Lyons Charity, cost £60 for three weeks and include membership to artsdepot’s Ignite scheme.
