EDGWARE residents had a chance to have their valuables registered by police officers in a bid to deter criminals in the area.

Members of the Edgware Safer Transport Team held the two-day event at the library in Hale Lane last Wednesday and Thursday inviting the public to have their items registered at immobilise.com.

The site allows owners to make a portfolio of their valuables and register them if they are stolen, sending alerts to police and second-hand goods dealers across the country, making them harder to sell on for criminals.

PC Rich Nelson said "These events are important for those without internet access to register mobile phones.

“We must help everyone protect themselves from becoming victims of crime and www.immobilise.com is a vital tool in catching offenders.

“We shall be holding more of these events around the local transport hub and encourage people to come and take advantage."
