Residents of Oxhey Village enjoyed all the fun of the fair yesterday at their 35th annual fete.

Organised by the Oxhey Village Environment Group (Oveg), the day had something for everyone as thousands turned out in the afternoon sunshine.

Among the food and craft stalls offering their wares were plenty of other attractions including inflatable rides for children, a performance by the Bushey and Oxhey School Choir, dancing performances and children's races.

Also popular on the day was a Tug-o-War competition featuring teams from the pubs in the village which was won by The Royal Oak.

Oveg chairman John Drummond said he had received "lots of very positive feedback".

He said: "I had many people come up to me and say what a great day it had been, with one resident saying it was one of the best yet.”

“Obviously the weather helps and the sun shone on Oxhey Village again this year. But that's not to take away from the great effort put in by everybody in Oveg who planned and organised the day, and my great thanks goes to all of them. Also my thanks go to all of the other residents and local organisations that give their time, and services, and make it a real community occasion.”

"Events like this are very important to Oxhey Village and I'm proud to say that yet again the fair has been a big success."
