A MUSIC medley promoting female talent across the borough is taking to the stage this weekend to help raise money for disadvantaged children.

The Bewitched event, featuring what has been branded the “Belles of Barnet”, is a woman led Halloween charity showcase this Sunday at After Office Hours, in High Street.

Dozens of acts from the area are lined up to perform in aid of KidsOut, a charity which arranges trips for disabled youngsters, as well as those with life-limiting illness, special educational needs or who have come from difficult backgrounds.

The free day of music, which is being held from 2pm until midnight, has been organised by Mina Dutton.

The 34-year-old, from Dollis Valley, runs a community based project, Meaner Music, which provides opportunities, artistic development and promotion for up-and-coming performers.

She said: “It is really exciting and I am expecting it to be really busy.

“I am madly passionate about music, and the charity is close to my heart, so it just made sense to organise something like this.

“A lot of charity events I have been to seemed quite male dominated so I wanted to host a showcase showing off female talent.

“The charity is really on board and hopefully it will help raise some awareness about what they do.”

The event will also feature art displays, dancing girls and an auction, and Mina hopes to raise more than £1,000.

Anybody can go along to the venue and it will be free to get in, although a £3 donation towards the charity is suggested.

Children can enjoy the performances between 2pm and 7pm.
