A PENSIONER was taken to hospital in a serious condition yesterday afternoon after a crash with a motorbike.
The 70-year-old sustained severe head and chest injuries in the incident along High Road at the junction with Chandos Road, in East Finchley, at about 5pm.
Two ambulance crews and the air ambulance doctor in a car attended the scene and treated the woman before transferring her as a priority to The Royal London Hospital, in Whitechapel.
The motorcyclist, thought to be in his 60s, was riding a black Honda when the crash happened. He was treated for head and leg injuries before being taken to the Royal Free Hospital, in Hampstead.
Police sealed off the road between Oak Lane and Chruch Lane at 5.15pm while investigations were carried out.
The section of High Road was not reopened until 9.45pm. Traffic division at Alperton are investigating the crash.
Residents were reporting traffic chaos in the surrounding roads throughout the evening. Police sent people on diversion via Long Lane, which was said to be gridlocked as motorists tried to rejoin High Road.
