A CRASH in Brent Cross this morning left a lorry balancing precariously across several lanes of traffic.

Emergency crews were called to the four vehicle pile up westbound on the A406, at the Junction with the M1, Staples Corner, at 6.10am.

Police said a 7.5 tonne blue Scania lorry was straddling the crash barrier between lane one and the exit slip road.

Two lanes and the exit to the M1 were closed from 7.10am, and throughout the morning, while crews tried to secure the damaged lorry, which officers said was in danger of tipping.

There were also thought to be problems with the recovery, meaning further disruption was expected for several more hours. Traffic reports said there were “severe delays” back to Henlys Corner and past Brent Cross, as well as queues through the East End Road Tunnel.

The crash also involved a white Daf truck, a Sabb 9000 and a purple Yamaha scooter.

The scooter rider was limping around the scene and was taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution.
