AN EDGWARE entrepreneur who made millions of pounds from the sale of a care home found himself living in a campervan on Brighton sea front this summer- for a Channel 4 show.

Bradley Reback, 46, posed as a homeless man for The Secret Millionaire, a show which puts rich people undercover to see the work charities do on a day-to-day basis and donate money to them.

He started his career at Jewish Care looking after the elderly, but decided to branch out and start his own care home, which he built in Hale Lane, before selling it for several million pounds four years ago.

The former Deansbrook Primary School pupil said: “I felt really privileged to do this. What I think this programme does is it reaches parts other things just don't reach.

“People say why do you not give your money privately, but this is a chance and a challenge for me, and a chance to highlight the good work these charities do.

“I was able to connect with sections of society I do not find it easy to connect with.”

For the show Mr Reback was taken from his home in Stanmore and put in a 20-year-old camper van, which at first he could not drive, and taken to Brighton, where he went to university.

During the show he posed as someone who was long-term unemployed which had led to depression and homelessness, touring charities in the city to see how they help deal with the problem.

He said: “It certainly was difficult. For eight days I lived in this van and had to find somewhere different to park it and sleep every night, which wasn't easy. It was outside my comfort zone.

“I met some truly inspiring people and I have kept in close contact with all of the charities I met.

“It really made a big impact on me and gave me a kick up the backside to get out there again. You need to be challenged and stimulated mentally, which I had not been since I sold the care home.”

Mr Reback said the episode has an explosive and unexpected ending which he had not even told his partner about.

It is being screened on Channel 4 on Sunday at 9pm.
