A BURNT Oak man has been jailed for more than four years after being caught with the TV of a murdered pensioner and nearly £14,000 worth of drugs.

Leslie George, 22, who has learning disabilities, was caught with the drugs in his Ellesmere Avenue flat by detectives investigating the murder of 94-year-old Bill Humphrey in Borehamwood.

The Second World War veteran was brutally bound and tortured in his Brook Road home by Macio Reis De Sa Barros, 31, in February.

In July Sa Barros was jailed for 28 years for the killing.

Officers traced the TV stolen from Mr Humphrey's home to George's flat and he admitted he had bought it for £60 from Sa Barros.

When they searched his home they uncovered 141 grams of cocaine and 89 grams of heroin with a street value of around £13,700.

On Friday St Albans Crown Court heard George was in breach of a previous conviction for possessing class A drugs which resulted in a 12 month prison sentence suspended for two years.

Recorder Peter Crabtree was told that George was of low intelligence, learning disabilities and because of his vulnerability had been sucked into the world of drugs.

George pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods and two counts of possessing Class A drugs and was jailed for four years and six months.
