AN Algerian man is starting a 15-year sentence after being found guilty of murdering a young mother-of-three in her Cricklewood flat.
The family and friends of Jacqueline Barratt today cheered and applauded as the foreman of the jury read out the verdict to Houssam Djemaa.
He had admitted killing Ms Barratt on December 10 last year but denied murder.
But today the jury took less than two hours to decide he hd intended to kill when he hit Ms Barratt with a fire extinguisher and strangled her to death on her kitchen floor.
Sentencing him the Recorder of London Judge Peter Beaumont said: “You took the life of the woman who loved you in the circumstances of extreme violence.
“She was difficult, but you knew that when you went to live with her."
