Mulled wine and mince pies were the order of the day as the Oxhey Village Environment Group (Oveg) staged its third annual Carols on the Green at the weekend.

Hundreds of residents and proud parents gathered on Oxhey Green in Lower Paddock Road on Sunday to listen to school children sing festive favourites.

Pupils from Bushey and Oxhey Infants and Bushey Manor school treated the crowd to a selection of carols ranging from Little Donkey to Stille Nacht before soloist Sarah Sharp served up her rendition of Santa Baby.

The evening was rounded off with a perfomance by the Bushey and Oxhey Adult Community Choir, comprising of parents of children from both schools.

Oveg co-chairman Ben Atkins said: “We love Carols on the Green.

“Every year it really proves what a great community we have and involves people from all ages.

“Having the infant and the junior schools involved is really important to us, and having the wonderful Sarah Sharp representing the young adults and the Bushey and Oxhey Adult Community Choir really means that it's an event with something for everyone.

“We’re really grateful to all the volunteers who make it happen and of course to the local people who brave the cold each year to come and support the event.”
