A friends group is organising a free family party to celebrate the renovation of the playground in Mill Hill Park.

The Friends of Mill Hill Park will host a Party in the Park from 2pm to 4pm in Daws Lane on Sunday, March 25.

There will be bouncy castles, face painting, fun fair rides and animals from Belmont Children's Farm. Football and rugby fanatics can have a kick at goal with Whetstone Wanderers and Saracens Rugby Club coaches, and Barnet Kennel Club will hold a dog training demonstration.

Green-fingered guests can also help plant trees and shrubs in the grounds of the park.

The friends group was awarded a £49,473 grant from Groundwork UK and Big Lottery Fund’s Community Spaces programme last August to redevelop the playground for three to seven-year-olds.

The work was completed last November when Barnet Council donated £24,733 to install the new equipment, including climbing frames, a pirate ship, slides and swings.

Clare Zinkin, a member of the friends group, said: “The playground is a huge success and we want to celebrate this with the whole community. We want to mark the beginning of spring and the new life of the playground.”
