A student's painting is taking pride of place in Barnet Police Station.
Klaudia Markowska's painting will hang in the station's victim suite. The student, from Totteridge Academy, won a competition organised by the SCD2 unit, which is responsible for investigations into rape and sexual offences.
The unit wanted to find a tranquil piece of art to hang in the room where victims wait after a sexual assault.
People often spend a number of hours in the room while in a state of great distress, as an investigation gets underway.
PC Elly Mitchell, of the SCD2 team, said: “The aim is to make the victims feel as comfortable as possible.
“We want to make the room as comfortable as it can be, as victims can be there for a number of hours when they are in a very distressed state.”
The winner was announced at a ceremony on Friday evening, at Hendon Police Training Centre.
