A community wind orchestra is celebrating its move from Whetstone to High Barnet with a free workshop.
Da Capo Concert Band is moving from All Saints School, Whetstone, where it has been since 1997, to St John the Baptist Church in High Street, High Barnet.
To mark the move, and to encourage new members to join, the band is holding an open rehearsal on September 15 from 10.30am until 5.30pm at the church.
It is inviting woodwind, brass and percussion players to take part and to play a varied wind band repertoire.
Lunch will be provided and the day will end with a short concert to showcase the day’s work.
Da Capo Concert Band, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary in November, is an experienced wind orchestra performing a wide repertoire of pieces including those by Holst and Sparke.
The band is currently made up of 40 members and they would prefer new members to be at least Grade 6 standard.
It will rehearse every Wednesday night from 8pm until 10pm.
Musical Director Jon Milne said: “We’re really looking forward to being part of the vibrant community in High Barnet.
“St. John the Baptist church is a wonderful, central location, with a great acoustic.
“We hope all local wind and brass players will come and give us a try.”
Players can find out more information, and register for the workshop, on the band’s website www.dacapoconcertband.co.uk or can call 07766 457929.
