Many websites have reportedly stopped working due to an outage with Cloudflare, a content delivery network.

On Down Detector, a website used to report outages of websites, reports on Cloudfare outage began to appear at around 7:30am.

What is Cloudflare?

According to Down Detector, Cloudflare is a content delivery network and distributed DNS (domain name server). Its services protect website owners from peak loads, comment spam attacks and DDos (distributed denial of service) attacks.

One user wrote on the website: “Roblox, Discord, Many websites, Many apps And more Is down Because of cloudfare!!! NOOOOOO”

Across Down Detector it appears many sites are affected by an outage, with reports appearing on Discord, Shopify, Amazon, Fitbit and more.

It is unclear whether these are related.

The Cloudflare Twitter account has addressed the issue, and recently updated to say a fix has been implemented and it is working to monitor the results.

The tweet read: “The Cloudflare team is aware of the current service issues and is working to resolve as quickly as possible. Updates can be followed here.

“The issue has been identified and a fix is being implemented.”

It then added, “A fix has been implemented and we are monitoring the results.”

Reports also began to decrease on Down Detector at around 8:30am.

Cloudflare’s service can be checked on the website here.
