Barnet extended their unbeaten start to the Conference season with an uninspiring 0-0 draw at Tamworth this evening.

The visitors were the better team in the opening period but were unable to turn their possession into decent chances.

Barnet were less effective after the restart but were always comfortable against a limited Tamworth side. Neither team looked like providing the cutting edge to score a goal and no-one could complain at the final whistle as it ended goalless.

The Bees named an unchanged side following their 3-0 win at home to Chester at the weekend.

Edgar Davids’ side created their first opportunity when Elliot Johnson fired over the crossbar from outside the area.

The Bees had the ball in the net early on after Andy Yiadom played in Curtis Weston but the midfielder was shown a yellow card for punching the ball in.

Graham Stack received a booking after he was adjudged to have brought down Richard Peniket outside the area. Tony Capaldi struck a powerful free-kick but could not direct his effort on target.

Barnet carved out a chance from Weston’s cross but Mark Byrne sent his header past Cameron Belford’s post.

Weston launched a dangerous attack and set up Byrne but his effort was deflected over for a corner.

Johnson found himself inside the Tamworth half but his shot was straight at Belford.

The visitors were probably shading the contest and had another effort on goal after a neat turn by Weston but his strike was comfortably held by Belford.

Weston had another attempt late in the first half but his long distance shot was straight at the Tamworth keeper.

Barnet made a change at the break as Jack Saville, who suffered a blow to the head in the first half, was replaced by Anthony Acheampong.

The contest got off to a slow start and the visitors appeared to lose some of the momentum they had in the opening 45 minutes.

Weston was one of the better Barnet players and his volley was easily saved by Belford.

Keanu Marsh-Brown had an opportunity from a free-kick but his strike was too close to the keeper.

The hosts came into the game more as it progressed but Stack was still a spectator for much of the contest.

The visiting keeper was called into action from Duane Courtney’s header but he comfortably saved the ball.

Ben Richards-Everton also had a header on goal but this was also easily held by Stack.

Jake Hyde got into a decent position but he was unable to find the target as his shot rose over the bar.

Substitute Harry Crawford found himself bearing down on the goal late on but a fine interception challenge from Belford cleared the danger.

It was the last real opportunity for the Bees who had to settle for a second consecutive clean sheet and their first draw of the campaign.
