Barnet defender Jack Saville came through Saturday’s 1-1 at Welling United without aggravating his knee injury and admitted he was pleased to be back playing.

The 22-year-old returned to the side at left-back and produced a faultless performance to help the Bees claim a point at Park View.

It was his first start since August and Saville said: “It was good to get back on the pitch. I have wanted to play for a while but due to my knee being sore I wasn’t able to. I had only trained twice but was thrown in, so I am pleased.

“I had cramp late on because fine so that is good news.

“I’ll recover tomorrow (Sunday) and have a light session on Monday. As long as my knee doesn’t swell up then hopefully I will get picked on Tuesday.”

The Bees were reduced to ten men against the Wings after Andy Yiadom was dismissed in the 25th minute.

Joe Healy then put Welling ahead but a second half penalty from Keanu Marsh-Brown ensured the Bees claimed a well earned draw.

Saville said: “Going down to ten men early doors and then 1-0 down, then we are pleased with a point. We want to win these away games but given the circumstances it is a good result for us.”
