Three red cards, two goals and in the end, a point for each side. Barnet’s 1-1 draw against Wrexham in front of the TV cameras certainly provided Sunday afternoon drama.

An early Anthony Acheampong header put the Bees ahead; it was a lead they held late into the second period.

Then Edgar Davids was sent off for his part in an 86th brawl, as was Wrexham’s Stephen Wright. It was folllowed by an equaliser as Dean Keates curled home an excellent free-kick from 20-yards.

Six minutes were added. Another red card, this time for Johnny Hunt’s horrific challenge on Curtis Weston which left the midfielder with a severe cut to his leg.

There was still time for the Bees to clinch victory. A cross in the 96th minute found David Stephens completly unmarked six yards out but he could only head wide. It was a big opportunity wasted.

The Barnet players left the pitch disappointed at full time but it had all started so well.

The Bees went ahead in the seventh minute. Jack Saville evaded a tackle down the right and crossed into the box. Acheampong, who had gone forward for an earlier corner, remained in the area and he headed into the net.

Wrexham responded and Graham Stack had to be alert to push clear shots from Keates and Jay Harris.

Barnet threatened throughout the opening 45 minutes. The Bees felt they should have had a penalty when a Keanu Marsh-Brown strike hit an arm. The TV replays certainly showed they had a good case.

The Bees continued to create chances. Andy Coughlin did well to push a Marsh-Brown effort wide of the post before Saville thumped a header against the crossbar from close range.

Weston then had a toe poked shot retrieved off the line. A second Bees goal seemed inevitable. It didn’t arrive.

Wrexham had passed neatly throughout the half but hadn't really created a clear opportunity to level. Keates again forced Stack into a stop from distance, although it was routine work for the goalkeeper.

After the interval, Barnet struggled to maintain the same tempo in possession. Joe Anyinsah was pushed further forward for the visitors and he had two goal-bound shots blocked.

The Bees’ midfield had pressed Wrexham well throughout the game but they began to tire.

It allowed Andy Morrell’s side more time on the ball and they almost equalised through Keates but Stack did well to save the midfielder's volley.

From the resultant corner a goalmouth scramble ensued but Wrexham couldn’t force the ball home and Villa smashed clear.

Barnet hadn’t passed with the same fluency in the second period. They were restricted to long range shots but Lopez came close with a curled effort that required a save from Coughlin.

There had been little aggression shown from either side during the game. However, with one minute remaining a brawl broke out after Iffy Allen conceded a foul on the edge of the area.

The outcome saw Davids dismissed for elbowing Wright who was harshly shown a red card. The free-kick was taken by Keates and he curled the ball past Stack and into the top corner.

There were six minutes of added time and Wrexham were reduced to nine men following Hunt’s vicious tackle on Weston.

Barnet pushed forward in the final moments and Mauro Vilhete drew a good stop from Coughlin. From the resultant corner, the Bees should have clinched victory.

The ball was played to Kieran Cadogan and his cross found Stephens. The defender was all alone in the six yard box but somehow he headed agonisingly wide.

The full time whistle was blown. It was a frustrating third draw in four games for Barnet who are now four points off the play-offs.
