Edgar Davids praised Barnet’s efficiency after the Bees' 1-0 win against Skrill Premier promotion rivals Kidderminster Harriers.

A first half goal from Luisma Villa was enough to seal the three points for Barnet who are seventh in the table.

Speaking after the victory, Davids said: “I’m pleased with the three points but and we didn’t play at 100 per cent. So we have got a win and I am pleased with the efficiency.”

It was the third consecutive match that Barnet have kept a clean sheet and the central defence partnership of David Stephens and Jack Saville are yet to concede a goal this season.

Davids said he “is not fixated” on shutouts but believes the Bees have restricted teams for the majority of the campaign.

“Clean sheets don’t always tell the whole story and if you win without getting a clean sheet that is not a problem,” he explained.

“There have not been many sides that have created a lot of opportunities against us. But there have been miracle goals against us which have been hard to defend.

“Other times we haven’t been sharp in the right moments. When everyone is switched on then we are a hard team to beat.”

Villa was sent off late in the game after receiving a second yellow card for kicking the ball away and Davids was frustrated with the decision.

“It was a silly red card,” the Dutchman said. “He thought it was the full time whistle and funnily enough it was the end. I was with the fourth official and he said it was full time.

“So he thought it was full time and kicked the ball. Instead the referee played an extra two minutes but even the fourth official said it was time.

“It is very strange and for the fourth official it was already past the time.”
