It was an instantly forgettable game but Barnet’s unbeaten Skrill Premier run stands at seven matches after the Bees drew 0-0 at home to Welling United.

Clear chances were at a premium throughout the contest. Kieran Cudogan’s low shot in the first half that was saved by Lee Butcher the Bees’ best.

Graham Stack was the busier of the two goalkeepers and he did well to deny Ross Lafayette in the second period before Lee Clarke headed over late on when unmarked in the area. In the end the points were deservedly shared.

Edgar Davids was only on managerial duty and did not select himself in the Bees squad.

There were three changes to the side which was beaten at Preston North End in the FA Cup. Elliot Johnson returned to the starting XI in place of the injured Mauro Vilhete and Luisma Villa replaced Davids. Harry Crawford came in for the suspended Keanu Marsh-Brown.

Both sides were unadventurous in the opening 45 minutes and few clear chances were created. Crawford led the Bees attack and he headed over before Loui Fazakerley forced Stack into a routine stop.

Butcher came close to diverting an Andy Yiadom cross into his own net and the following corner was headed wide by David Stephens.

Welling’s main attacking threat was from set-pieces and Fraser Franks saw a header blocked on the line by Johnson.

The Wings did have the ball in the net as Alex Dyer tapped home from close range after Stack dropped a cross. However, the Bees goalkeeper had been fouled and the referee rightly awarded a free-kick.

Crawford then came close for Barnet. A neat lay off from Cadogan found the striker free in the penalty area and his low shot was pushed clear by Butcher.

The resultant corner was cleared to Villa and his curled effort just missed the left post.

The best chance of the opening 45 minutes came shortly before the break. Two lucky bounces allowed Cadogan to break into the penalty area but his shot was saved by Butcher and cleared.

The visitors made a change at the interval as on loan defender Doug Bergqvist was replaced by Blaine Turner.

Welling’s backline was unaffected by the switch and they continued to frustrate the Bees who were unable to work a clear opening.

Barnet looked vulnerable against the counter attack and David Stephens made two vital blocks in quick succession.

The Bees seemed tired as the second half progressed and Stack was alert to save a Lafayette strike before brilliantly diving at the feet of substitute Kurtis Guthrie to deny the striker.

Dyer then smashed a shot onto the roof of the net as Barnet came under increased pressure.

The Bees' only chances in the second period were shots from distance. Mark Byrne forced Butcher into a routine stop before Cadogan curled a shot narrowly wide of the post.

There was one final chance and it came in stoppage time for the visitors. A corner was drifted to the backpost and Lee Clarke escaped his marker.

The midfielder had a free header but couldn’t control the effort and it cleared the crossbar.

The game wasn’t a classic and will certainly not live long in the memory of Barnet supporters.

It is another point, however, and the Bees go into Saturday’s game against Cambridge United unbeaten in seven.
