Barnet are fifth in the Skrill Premier table tonight after gaining a 1-0 win at basement club Hyde.

The game’s decisive moment came after 57 minutes when a persistent spell of pressure was rewarded as Jake Hyde danced round four challenges before playing the ball out to Luisma Villa.

He in turn found Mark Byrne, who advanced into the box before cutting the ball back to Jon Nurse, who slotted into the corner.

Boosted by the return of Hyde and Dani Lopez on the bench, the visitors had their chances in the first half but Keanu Marsh-Brown, Villa and Nurse all having opportunities to make the breakthrough.

The bombardment was stepped up as half-time approached but the game was still goalless at the break after Andy Yiadom, Villa and Curtis Weston had all had opportunities.

The onslaught continued after the restart as Jake Hyde went close on two occasions while Marsh-Brown blazed over.

After taking the lead, Jake Hyde had a second goal disallowed for offside with just over 20 minutes remaining, while Marsh-Brown was booked, meaning he will miss the Boxing Day clash with Luton Town.
