Manager Paul Fairclough hopes Barnet's record-breaking FA Cup run will persuade his stars to stay at Underhill.

Fairclough cannot wait for the January transfer window to close at the end of this month and admitted he was holding his breath, as clubs sniff around for new talent.

But he said: "I don't know how many of my players will want to leave before the FA Cup run is over."

The Bees host Championship side Plymouth Argyle in the fourth round on January 27 with a realistic chance of making it to the last 16. Barnet have already got further than ever before.

Meanwhile, Giuliano Grazioli, who has just returned from injury, and Magno Vieira have both been made available for loan moves.

Fairclough said both needed to get match fit and their chances of doing that with Barnet were limited.

The in-form Bees, who saw off Paul Ince's rejuvenated Macclesfield Town on Saturday, have won five of their last six league matches and Fairclough is keen to keep the rest of his squad intact for the time being.

Barnet are just two points off the play-off places, but the table is so tight, Fairclough believes some 20 teams still harbour promotion ambitions.

But Fairclough knows he could lose one or more of his young stars at any time.

The likes of Simon King, Nicky Bailey, Dean Sinclair and Jason Puncheon, who was yesterday named Player of the Round' for his wonder goal against Colchester, continue to attract the scouts.

Fairclough takes his troops to Milton Keynes Dons on Saturday.

He said: "It will be tough, but they have only picked up one point from the last two games, so the pressure will be on them."

Meanwhile, Barnet saw off Welwyn Garden City 4-0 on Monday to progress to the quarter-finals of the Herts Senior Cup.

A brace each for Vieira (two pens) and Liam Hatch earned a trip to Hertford Town, one of Fairclough's former clubs. Ross Flitney, Joe Devera and Grazioli were the only other first-teamers to be involved.

u Football League sponsors Coca-Cola this week launched a Buy a Player' promotion until February 7. Barnet fans who buy certain products have the chance to earn the Bees cash to spend on transfers.
