Barnet outcast Keanu Marsh-Brown is currently away with Forest Green Rovers for pre-season training in Ireland.

The winger, who made just two league starts last term, has not been involved in either of the Bees’ pre-season friendlies and speaking after today’s 5-3 defeat by Crystal Palace, Martin Allen revealed he was not with the rest of his teammates.

“Keanu Marsh-Brown is away with Forest Green Rovers,” stated Allen. “He went away with them and will be away for a week with them training, so we will see how he gets on.”

Marsh-Brown was subject of a bid from the Green Army last season but the 22-year-old turned down the opportunity to join Ady Pennock’s men.

There was also an offer from Championship side Blackpool but the Times Series understands that was turned down by chairman Tony Kleanthous.

The former Fulham and Arsenal youngster spent time training with Peterborough United last season too but a move to London Road failed to materialise.

Marsh-Brown’s contract with the Bees had been due to end this summer but the club activated the one-year option they held in the hope of receiving a more substantial fee for his services.

Speaking prior to last Saturday's win over Hungerford Town, Allen revealed the wideman had not turned up for the second day of pre-season training as his car had a puncture.

He said: "Keanu needs a bit more work than most of the other players. He missed the last six weeks of the season with gastric flu so we never saw him for the last six weeks of the season.

"When he was available he could not train because he had a thigh strain. So in total he has been off now for nearly three – coming up to four months.

"Then on Thursday he did not train because he had a punctured car tyre."
