Rossi Eames and Henry Newman insist there is no point dwelling on Barnet’s 2-1 defeat to Stevenage which ended the Bees’ eight game unbeaten League Two run.

Strikes from Dale Gorman and Luke Wilkinson either side of John Akinde’’s penalty ensured Stevenage left the Hive with all three points.

The Barnet management duo started their reign with a 1-0 win over Yeovil last week and are keen to move on from Saturday’s defeat.

Eames told the Barnet website: “There is no point crying or getting upset. You have to take the highs with the lows. Last week was a high and, yes, we’re going to be low at this point.”

“It is certainly not a disaster, that’s the message we have given to the players afterwards,” Newman added.

“In the second half we made a couple of poor decisions and individual errors.

“But in terms of performance as a whole, had the first half been repeated in the second half, Rossi and I would have been concerned.”

The visitors started the brighter and their dominance was rewarded when Gorman curled in his first senior goal.

Akinde notched his 16th goal of the campaign from the spot just after the half-time break after Fraser Franks’ foul.

Franks made up for his mistake with a well-taken winner from 12-yards, before Michael Tonge was denied by the post late on.

The result leaves Barnet tenth in the table, a point outside the play-offs, ahead of a trip to Cheltenham Town on Boxing Day.

With Cheltenham currently sitting in 23rd position, Barnet will be confident of returning to winning ways against the relegation candidates.

Town did, however, end a six game losing run in the league with a 2-1 victory over Morecambe on Saturday.

A win at Globe Arena could take Barnet into the League Two play-off places depending on results elsewhere.

Barnet’s year ends with a far more daunting test as they travel to Kenilworth Road on New Years Eve.

Luton’s form has dipped somewhat in recent weeks after taking just one win in their last four league games.

They are still among the front-runners to secure promotion this season and have lost just one of their last 10 matches.
