Graham Westley has been appointed as Barnet's new head coach, the League Two strugglers have announced.

Westley, who has not managed since being sacked by Newport in March, takes over a club sitting bottom of the English Football League.

The former Stevenage, Preston and Peterborough manager, who had a brief stint at Barnet during his playing career, will take charge of the Bees tomorrow.

Mark McGhee had replaced Rossi Eames as first-team coach in November but said after Saturday's defeat to Crawley he was keen for the club to find a new manager.

And McGhee, who was referred to on the club's website as Barnet's "head of technical", welcomed Westley's arrival.

He told barnetfc.com: "I am delighted and excited to announce the appointment of Graham Westley as our head coach. Graham will take charge of all first-team affairs from tomorrow morning.

"Graham has a fantastic track record at this level and above. His knowledge of the division and the players in it will be a crucial factor in our fight to climb the table during the remainder of this season.

"Myself and everyone at the club will give him all the support we can to help achieve this."
