Barnet manager John Still has acted swiftly in the transfer market having snapped up Cheye Alexander from Aldershot Town as well as striker Jack Barham from Greenwich Borough.

The duo have signed two-year deals at the Hive as the Bees prepare for life back in the National League after being relegated from League 2 last season.

Full-back Alexander joins from National League rivals Aldershot having been a regular for the Shots last season, scoring twice in 45 appearances as Gary Waddock’s men finished in 5th place in the table.

Alexander left the Shots at the end of the campaign after three seasons with the club and now moves to the Hive, where he will be hoping to be part of a promotion challenge with the Bees next season.

The full-back came through the ranks at West Ham United and after leaving the Hammers, he went on to enjoy spells with Port Vale, Concord Rangers and Bishop’s Stortford prior to joining the Shots.

On Alexander, Bees boss Still told the club’s website: "I have known Cheye for a number of years, I've tried to sign him before and it hasn't worked out. He's a right-sided defender and supporters will love him.

"He's good going forward and he's got a great attitude, great work ethic and he's had a couple of good years at Aldershot and has played for the national team as well.

"He's at a great age and he's got a drive in him, he's still young enough to really go on beyond this level and he'll be a terrific addition to this club."

The Bees made it two signings in one day earlier this afternoon when they swiftly secured the signing of prolific Greenwich Borough striker Jack Barham.

Barham moves to the Hive after an impressive season in the Bostik League South Division, where he scored 37 goals and racked up a further 10 assists.

He joined Greenwich last autumn after stints with Phoenix Sports, Heybridge Swifts and Tilbury.

The striker has apparently attracted interest from clubs throughout the football pyramid according to the Bees, with the move marking Barham’s first venture into professional football.

The 22-year-old told Barnet’s website: "It's been a long season, but I've worked hard for this so I can't wait to get started.

"It's nice to get a deal over the line, I can now get my head down into full-time training and work really hard and hopefully do it at this level as well.

"My dream as a little boy was to have my name on the back of a shirt, so to now have that I can kick on and show the Barnet supporters what I can do."
