Glenn Sports were again involved in a high-scoring game as they won 5-3 at Premier Division leaders Hemel Hempstead Rovers in the league stages of the West Herts Senior Charity Cup.

The visitors took the lead after 10 minutes, but were pegged back just before the break when Luke Hewitt was allowed a free run from 30 yards to slot home.

Two goals after the break saw Glenn establish a cushion, and although Jacob Mwemba’s volley halved that advantage, two more efforts from their opponents put the result beyond doubt.

A late second from Hewitt only served as consolation as Glenn went top of the Pool A table.

Despite a sluggish performance, a first-half strike from Samba Gaye was enough for Croxley Community to beat The Engineer Harpenden.

Although Croxley played the majority of the second half with 10 men following a sending off, it took two superb saves from the Engineer’s keeper to prevent their opponents from extending their advantage as they went top of Pool B.

Bovingdon A joined Croxley at the Pool B summit after a comfortable 6-1 win over Langleybury Cricket Club, with Lee Richards scoring twice and Jamie Barker, Michael Buttleman, Charlie Martindale and Will Franklin netting the others.

As they have done in most games this season, Kings Sports started well against Caddington in Pool A, taking the lead after three minutes through Tom Oliver.

Sports had further opportunities to extend their advantage and paid the price as Caddington equalised before running out 3-1 victors.
