Barnet have appointed caretaker boss Darren Currie as head coach after director of football John Still left yesterday.
Still had retired from football management last month but remined at the Hive in the director of football role. However, he has opted to come out of retirement to return to Maidstone United - the club he took into the Football League 30 years ago - as head of football.
Currie took on the head coach role on a temporary basis in December when Still stepped aside.
Barnet have already achieved relative success under Currie during his temporary stewardship of the club, beating Championship promotion hopefuls Sheffield United in the FA Cup.
As a player, Currie made over 140 appearances with the Bees and has signed a rolling contract with the club as head coach.
Speaking to the club website after his appointment, Currie said: "This is an incredibly proud moment for myself and a great opportunity to take my first steps in management at a club I loved playing for.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed my first three weeks in charge and I'm relishing the chance to take this great club forward.
"It's an exciting new chapter for me and I hope to keep the smiles on the faces of our brilliant supporters."
