Josh Walker scored the only goal for Barnet as they extended their unbeaten run to five games in the National League with a 1-0 win over Maidenhead United at The Hive.
Walker struck shortly after the hour mark to give the Bees their second consecutive win on top of the three straight draws they recorded beforehand.
The hosts had the best of the chances early on but were thwarted by Maidenhead goalkeeper Taye Ashby-Hammond. He kept out a header from Simeon Akinola from the returning Wes Fonguck’s cross.
That was as good as it got in a goalless first-half, however.
The deadlock was broken on 66 minutes when Charlee Adams burst forward and had a go from range. Ashby-Hammond failed to hold the shot and the ball fell kindly for Walker to tuck home and give the Bees the lead.
Maidenhead attempted to come back into the game in their hunt for an equaliser, but the closest they came was when James Akintunde’s effort was deflected wide.
Ephron Mason-Clarke came close to doubling Barnet’s advantage late on, but his curling strike drifted just wide of the far post.
The one goal was all that was needed in the end, and Darren Currie’s side move up to ninth in the table ahead of tomorrow’s home clash with Aldershot Town, which kicks off at 7.45pm.
