Goals from Carla Humphrey, Ebony Salmon and Abigail Harrison consigned London Bees to defeat away at Bristol City.

The home side needed only seven minutes to go ahead against the FA Women’s Championship outfit.

New Zealand international Olivia Chance played a superb angled pass to Humphrey, who steadied herself before firing a low right-foot shot into the far corner.

Bristol continued to have the better of things with Flo Allen and Charlie Wellings both firing just over the top from distance.

And the Robins increased their advantage after 25 minutes, Salmon arriving in the box to tuck the ball under keeper Megan Lynch from close range and claim her first goal for her new club.

Kirsten Reilly also went close from long range just before the half-hour as Bristol looked for a third goal.

The Bees had not made much impact as an attacking force, but they did cause a problem just before the interval.

Allen was shown a yellow card when she brought down Lucy Loomes as the striker threatened to break clear.

Bristol almost bagged a third after 72 minutes but luckless substitute Katie Robinson saw her goal bound shot inadvertently blocked by team-mate Harrison.

Moments later at the other end, City keeper Sophie Baggaley had to make her only real save of the game after a Bees breakaway, grabbing Lauren Pickett’s shot at the second attempt.

The visitors almost grabbed a goal back late on when Amelia Hazard struck the post following a corner, but Harrison put the outcome beyond doubt in stoppage time when she tucked home the third from close range.
