Hendon came from behind to reach the third qualifying round of the FA Cup with a 3-2 win over United Counties Premier Division side Deeping Rangers.

The Greens made hard work of the tie but advanced by way of an own goal along with strikes from Kam English and Conor Calcutt.

Hendon fielded a number of changes to the side that lost against Dorchester las time out, with Lee Chappell and Francis Amartey dropped from the squad entirely was Ram Marwa was named on the bench.

Deeping have had a successful run in the cup so far, causing upsets against both Bedford Town and AFC Sudbury, and they were on their way to another scalp when Jordan MacLeod headed home Jack Gurney’s cross.

Things got worse later in the half when Dan Jarvis put the visitors two in front with a low, driven finish.

However, it was the same player who was unfortunately credited with the own goal that got Hendon back in it, slicing a corner into his own goal while under pressure from Luke Tingey.

It took until the 67th minute, but the Greens levelled the tie when Calcutt evaded a number of challenges to cross from the right, and English was on hand to provide an emphatic finish.

Three minutes later, the turnaround was complete. English collected the ball on the edge of the area and slipped it to the left for Calcutt, and he fired past the Deeping keeper to edge Hendon ahead.

The visitors pushed for an equaliser, but their best chance late on was brilliantly kept out by Chris Grace, allowing Hendon to hold on and set up a tie away at Hayes & Yeading United in the next round.
