Barnet will face Fleetwood Town in the first round of the FA Cup after overcoming a scare in their fourth qualifying round replay at home to Potters Bar Town last night.

The visitors scored an equaliser in the 11th minute of stoppage time in Saturday’s original tie and miraculously took the lead at The Hive when Ben Ward-Cochrane took aim from outside the box and beat Scott Loach.

In-form forward Josh Walker ensured that the Bees were level at the break, and Darren Currie’s side showed their superior quality in the second half as Ephron Mason-Clarke and Jack Taylor sent them through.

Boss Currie was critical of his side after they were held to a draw by Potters Bar on Saturday and his scathing assessment of the team will have been fresh in his mind when the visitors took the lead in the replay.

Ward-Cochrane was allowed to run through the heart of the Barnet midfield and his excellent effort from outside the box had Loach beaten.

Unlike Saturday, there was a lot more time for a response from the Bees, but they didn’t need long at all to level the game as just 13 minutes later, Walker rose highest from Medy Elito’s cross to equalise.

Less than 10 minutes after the break, the turnaround was complete for Barnet as Mason-Clarke slotted them ahead from inside the area.

The Bees put the tie beyond doubt just after the hour mark when Bar goalkeeper R’Avan Constable brought down Jack Taylor in the area, and he dusted himself off to coolly place in the third.

Currie’s side will now play host to Joey Barton’s Fleetwood across the weekend of November 8-10, while their next National League game sees them travel to Hartlepool United this Saturday.
