Hendon ended the year with their ninth win out of nine in the Herts/Middlesex 1 division after a 45-20 success away at Saracens Amateurs on Saturday.

Rob Casey started off the scoring with Cian Hynes adding the conversion, but Roman Jones was then sent off and Nigel Toafa had to leave the field with concussion, allowing Saracens to strike back with a penalty.

Saracens profited from Hendon’s sloppiness by adding a converted try but Will Theaker managed to power down the line and add another try for the visitors that was again converted by Hynes.

Another seven-point score put Saracens back in front but a positive response from Hendon saw Dan Watterson take his side’s tally to 21.

Watterson was then sin-binned for an illegal tackle and Saracens capitalised from the penalty to make it a tight 21-20 at the break.

Hendon were much improved after the interval and a change of tactics brought about a much more solid performance.

TJ O’Sullivan crashed over early in the second half to secure the bonus point and Chris Kyingi then added a further try to see Hendon pull away.

Kyingi then burst away again to score Hendon’s sixth converted try of the afternoon, and Hynes then added a late penalty to seal what proved to be a comfortable win in the end.

Hendon now take a break for the festive period and will return to action on January 4, 2020 when they host Teddington.
