Hendon flexed their superiority in Herts/Middlesex 1 at the weekend with a resounding 36-0 win against second-placed St Albans.

The runaway league leaders were in front at the break courtesy of tries from Rob Casey and Junior Farao, then further scores from Dan Watterson, Ronan Jones, Larry Moore and a penalty try in the second period sealed the success.

Hendon took the lead after 10 minutes when Cian Hynes collected a St Albans penalty which did not find touch and he set up Casey to go over before adding the extras himself.

Farao then added his side’s second try of the afternoon after taking on three defenders and dotting down.

Hendon had a strong wind going in their favour in the second half and they used it to their advantage, extending their lead shortly after the restart as Billy Burrell fed Watterson to finish in the corner.

Minutes later, a Hendon maul in the St Albans 22 resulted in a second seven-point score, notched by Jones and converted by Hynes.

Moore then turned away from the defence after receiving Rob Page’s throw and powered away to make it 29-0, and his side’s final points of the day came through a penalty try after multiple St Albans infringements.

Hendon extend their lead at the top of the table to nine points courtesy of the win, while their next game is away at Verulamians this Saturday.
