Dean Brennan called for the Barnet fans to get behind the Bees in a passionate rant after they rallied to snatch a last-gasp 2-1 win over Altrincham at the Hive on Tuesday.
Justin Amaluzor put the away side ahead after 15 minutes, but a quick response from Harry Chapman and Rhys Browne’s late winner secured the points for Brennan’s side.
“We’ve got character. We’ve got togetherness,” the Barnet boss told the club website.
“I don’t like the moans and groans of our supporters. Moaning ‘get forward’, screaming rubbish at me when we’re 1-0 down. We’ve just played six games now without a recognised centre-forward, and our level of performance has been outstanding.
“If they don’t want that – I’ll move on. If that’s what they want, get someone else to do the job, because I’m sick and tired of it.
“Just a miserable and moany lot. What’s wrong with them? Get behind the group. Get behind the team.
“I feel that way about it. I’m delighted for the players. I’m delighted for our supporters that come up to Gateshead and clapped us off, but what I’m hearing here – I don’t like.
"If they’re going to be negative go off somewhere else and be negative. It’s their money – they can do what they want, but I can say what I want as well and how I really feel. I don’t pull no punches.”
Despite the late win, Brennan continued to send a clear message in an attempt to salvage some continuity between the fans and players.
“We’ve got young lads who read social media. I don’t read it and I’m not on it. I’ve got young lads reading social media," he added.
"I’ve got stuff on social media going against my goalkeeper. Does that help, does it? Does that help everybody? They’re all geniuses now. They want to clap you off, don’t they?
“You know what happens in life? When you’re in the tough times you see the real characters, the real people. That’s what I’m looking for – character.
“I want our fans to come with us with it. We’re very open and very honest with our supporters. But I’m hearing all negativity when we’re playing well.
"Good goal by Altrincham on the counter attack. Fair play. Justin’s a good player with pace, and I’ve got to listen to that moaning in my ear.
“Just relax – I know what I’m doing. I took this team over from the bottom of the table. Have a look where you are, because there’s a lot of other teams below us.
"That’s how I feel about it – I’m very, very angry and frustrated. If any fan wants to come in and see me then my door is open. Come in and see me. Have a cup of tea with me and come and see me. I’ll explain where we’re at, and who’s injured and what’s happening.
“No Tavares, no Browne, no Kabamba, no Collinge. Coker has just come back. Get behind this young group. Look at Joe Rye – outstanding. Joe Grimwood – outstanding performance. Chapman – what a player. Brunt – character. So I want us to get behind our players and not moan at them.
“I want us to be a proper club. All I ever hear is moaning about the chairman. The beer’s not good enough, that’s not good enough. Get behind the group. Get behind the team.”
