Barnet make the long trip to Accrington Stanley tomorrow but there will be plenty of space on the team coach as injuries and loan players returning to their parent clubs have depleted the Bees ranks.

Cedric Baseya, Gavin McCallum and Gary Borrowdale have all returned to their respective parent clubs in recent weeks.

It meant Lawrie Sanchez had only 19 fit players to choose from on Tuesday night for the JPT southern area final first leg and the serious injury to Danny Senda means the Bees squad is down to the ‘bare bones’.

Sanchez was already looking to bring in defensive cover but acknowledged he will need to now find a right-back. “We thought we only had to bring a left-back in but now we will also have to bring in a right-back.

“We have one or two left-backs that we are talking to but like everything we are either getting very young players or older players.

“So we are having to take a bit of a gamble but we were lucky because we’ve taken gambles on (Paul) Downing, (Michael Hector) and (Jack) Saville and they have worked for us. Hopefully the full-backs we do get in will to the same.

“We have got a couple of wounded people in there at the moment and I think we are down to around 18 players who are fit.

The only one who was not involved tonight who was fit is Anwar (Uddin) – although young Mauro (Vilhete) has just come back off the treatment table so that is an addition.

“But they were the only two players who were not involved so we are down to the bare bones again.”

Stanley currently sit ninth in League Two and are unbeaten in their last ten league fixtures.

Sanchez said the form they have shown is a phenomenal achievement.

“I saw Accrington play Burton on Friday night and they won 2-0 and were better than Burton.

“They looked a good side and John Coleman has done a very good job there.

“You have to take your hat off to him because if there is one team with a lower wage bill than us it is probably them.

“So to get them where they are in the table is a phenomenal achievement.”
