Barnet’s last two matches have had to be postponed due to positive Covid-19 tests.

A trip to face Aldershot Town and a home game against Yeovil Town were both called off due to a number of positive tests both from within Barnet’s camp and from their opponents as well.

Last weekend’s visit to Aldershot was called off with the Bees releasing a statement that read: “Barnet currently have one First Team player who has returned a positive test, with another two self-isolating and awaiting results following positive COVID tests amongst their close contacts.

“Meanwhile, Aldershot have also had positive tests returned and they too are now awaiting further results.”

In a following statement released ahead of Tuesday evening’s postponed home match against Yeovil, the club revealed that they had returned a further positive coronavirus test and that the entire first team would have to self isolate.

It reads: “Barnet Football Club can confirm that Tuesday night’s Vanarama National League fixture at home to Yeovil Town has been postponed following a second positive COVID case amongst our First Team squad.

Ahead of the weekend, we had one positive case, with two further players self isolating and awaiting results. One of these tests has returned positive, with the other squad member continuing to self isolate under government guidelines.

Following the second positive case amongst the First Team, we presented this information to The National League who have made the decision to postpone Tuesday’s match with The Glovers.

The entire First Team now must self isolate for the mandated period instructed by both The National League and government guidelines.

Anyone who purchased a streaming pass for Tuesday night’s match will have their code carried over for the rearranged fixture.

Our next scheduled fixture is away to Boreham Wood on Tuesday January 19th.

The Club would like to thank the league and Yeovil Town Football Club for its understanding of our current situation and we look forward to hosting them at a later date. Finally we wish all of our affected First Team members a full and speedy recovery.”
