Tony Kleanthous believes Dani Lopez is struggling “to make the jump” and join Barnet after the club agreed a fee and personal terms.

The striker returned to Stevenage after a three-month loan spell with the Bees ended last week but Barnet have made no secret they would like to keep Lopez at The Hive permanently.

Kleanthous confirmed Barnet have agreed a fee with Stevenage over a move as well as personal terms with the striker.

The Bees chairman also explained an issue with Lopez’s agent had be agreed but stated “another issue was brought up later.”

Kleanthous continued: “As soon as we overcame one obstacle another one appeared.

“I think it is up to Dani and his agent to make a decision. I don’t think that will depend on Edgar (Davids leaving), I think the issue is Dani getting his head around playing in the Conference.

“He and his agent believe he should be at a League 1 club at least and feel that should be his level.

“He loves the club and likes us and we have agreed everything. It is just when you are standing at the edge you don’t know whether to make the jump. I think he is struggling to make that decision.”
