Hampstead Heath is preparing for an art makeover as the Affordable Art Fair returns to London with two separate events showcasing contemporary collections from both household names and emerging talent, priced from £40 to £4,000. The Battersea Park show runs four days this weekend and the Hampstead Heath one the following weekend.

Will Ramsay, the fair’s founder says: “At each fair we try and make the experience exciting, captivating and, above all, fun for our visitors. We want them to discover art they love and inspire confidence in them so they leave with something that resonates with them personally but that hasn’t emptied their pockets.

“We want people to lose themselves in the galleries, ask questions and learn about art and even try their hand at producing their own works of art at one of our many workshops.“ Hampstead Heath is preparing to host its second annual fair, with more than 18,000 people expected to attend.

“Our debut show at Hampstead Heath last year was a resounding success and we’re hugely excited to be returning in November. We’ll be championing art from around the corner and around the globe: local galleries such as Nix Contemporary Art in Hampstead Heath and Beardsmore Gallery in Kentish Town will be rubbing shoulders with international names from Spain, France and Israel.“ An extensive collection of high quality art will be on display at Hampstead, with more than 100 hand-picked galleries from across the UK bringing the very best of their collections along – spanning illustration, sculpture, painting, photography and editioned prints.

There will be hands-on workshops, talks, tours and demonstrations and this year’s highlights include Printmakers in Residence, which offers visitors the opportunity to take part in printmaking workshops from which you can take home your very own masterpiece.

Families can join in the fun of the fair and there is also a programme of free kids’ activities in the Education Space – perfect for your mini Monets. The theme for this year’s education programme is Paper, Scissors, Rock and the Education Space will be concentrating on a different medium of art each day, with collage, painting, papercutting and printmaking workshops led by tutors from the Hampstead School of Art and Cass Art London, from Hampstead.
