After World War Two, the influx of European immigrants into the UK made London one of the most multicultural cities in the world – but is it ‘working’?

In a world of political correctness, the introduction of identity politics has become central to society and has affected how Jews see themselves. The London Jewish Cultural Centre  (LJCC) in Golders Green aims to address the question of identity for British Jews in a series of talks and seminars next week.

Some of the UK’s leading Jewish educators and opinion formers will be on hand for a four-day exploration of this fascinating question: Trudy Gold, of LJCC; Clive Lawton, of LJCC and Limmud, the Jewish learning organisation; Abigail Morris from the Jewish Museum in Camden; The Jewish Chronicle ’s Simon Rocker; journalist Tanya Gold; and Judy Ironside of the Jewish Film Festival, to name but a few.

Topics up for discussion – which always return to the central question of ‘is it good for the Jews?’ – cover such areas as education, mixed marriage, ‘English or British?’, stereotypes, the arts and survival. You can sign up for individual sessions or book up for the whole week. See the website for details of all the talks available.
