The rich and charming history of Stanmore has been brought to life courtesy of author, historian and local resident Geoffrey Hewlett.
Delving into the past of the popular suburb, Geoffrey explores the changing face of Stanmore, from the late 1600s up until the present day, using a series of maps, photographs and local knowledge in his book Stanmore Through Time.
As well as highlighting how placs such as Stanmore Village have transformed over the years, there are pages dedicated to notable former and current residents including past British Prime Minister Clement Attlee, writer, barrister and television presenter Clive Anderson, and journalist, broadcaster and former politician Michael Portillo.
