Thames Water has revised the time it expects to be able to reopen The Burroughs in Hendon.
The water company had hoped to reopen the road by 6pm today but it now believes the road will be out of action until 9pm.
The delay has been caused by the tarmac on the road setting more slowly than expected.
The road has been closed since a water main burst at 1am on Monday.
The water did so much damage to the road that a large part required resurfacing.
The closure has resulted in bus routes 143, 326, 183, 643, 653 and 683 being diverted.
It has also caused congestion in Brent Street and Church Road.
Thames Water has apologised for the delay.
