Celebrity Big Brother winner Chantelle Houghton was left embarrassed after a book signin-g at Brent Cross shopping centre failed to go according to plan on Saturday.

On a previous trip to the centre, Chantelle was forced to hide in the changing room of a clothes store such was her popularity after winning the Channel 4 reality show. No such luck this time round.

The blonde Essex girl was due to sign copies of her autobiography, Living the Dream, between 12pm and 1pm. But by 12.30pm she was gone, unimpressed by the lack of people who turned up to shell out £16.99 for the autobiography of a 23-year-old who, this time last year, was working as a professional Paris Hilton lookalike.

On Monday a spokeswoman from WH Smith confirmed: "There was not much of a queue, just people waiting to gawp at her, so she did not stay for the full hour. She signed some extra copies and left them here. They are still here now."

When asked how many copies had been sold at the signing session, the spokeswoman replied: "Er, I think about ten."

Publicity material for the book states: "Chantelle shares her secret hopes and dreams for the future, looks back on the past year and reflects on just what an amazing fairytale it's been."

After her experience on Saturday perhaps the fairytale has turned into a nightmare.
