Tenants who have recently moved into their new home were shocked to discover a burglar had been busy repacking their belongings yesterday.
When the pair returned to their new home in Lyttelton Road, East Finchley, at approximately 4.20pm, they were welcomed by muddy footprints in the hallway.
As they inspected the house they discovered some of their property had been packed away including a television which was stowed in a large rucksack.
Police believe the suspect got into the house through an unlocked backdoor, and was disturbed by the tenants as they arrived back home.
The suspect made off with two watches including a man’s Longines black watch with gold markings, costing approximately £1,000, and a Seiko silver-faced watch costing approximately £500.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police. Officers are also investigating a burglary in East Barnet where a man was woken up by someone going through his cupboards yesterday.
