Vulnerable people offered help with heating this winter

Vulnerable people can receive cash for heating and insulation this winter.

Barnet Council is working with NHS Barnet and Energise Barnet to offer grants to help with heating improvements and insulation in people’s homes as part of its Decent Homes programme.

Around 100 more people in Barnet die from serious illnesses such as heart attacks, strokes and pneumonia in winter, compared to the rest of the year.

Councillor Helena Hart said: “If either you or anyone you know – a neighbour, friend or relative – may be in need this winter, make sure you check on them and let them know about the help that is available.”

The council is also providing advice about insulation and heating improvements on its website.
