As Britain braces itself for a cold snap gritting crews have been out in force preparing Barnet’s roads for a predicted snowfall.
The Met Office has warned of icy conditions over the weekend with temperatures falling to -2C on Sunday.
Snow is expected to fall in the borough next Monday as temperatures fall to -3C.
Barnet’s gritting teams have been in action since Wednesday and will be back on the roads from 7pm this evening.
Gritters have been called into action 40 times since the start of the winter season spreading 637 tonnes of grit across more than 4,492 miles of road.
Grit bins have also been filled with 134 tonnes of salt.
