Hollywood legend Dustin Hoffman delighted fans in East Finchley on Friday at a screening of his directorial debut.

The veteran actor, famous for roles in The Graduate, Rain Man and Kramer vs Kramer, took part in a Q&A at the Phoenix Cinema, in High Road, before a showing of his new film Quartet.

Tickets for the event sold out in less than two hours and fans braved snow and ice to make it to the independent theatre for the evening showing.

The Academy Award-winning actor spent time answering questions about his life and career, including his move into directing, and reportedly became quite emotional at points of the discussion.

Julie Evans tweeted: “Dustin Hoffman was amazing! He cried, he was charming and funny!”
