EastEnders stars took a break from Albert Square to help Mill Hill hairdressers wash, cut and blow dry in aid of a children’s charity.

Shane Richie and Rita Simons joined staff at KINK Hair Salon in Daws Lane, Mill Hill, on Sunday to provide haircuts and treatments to raise money for Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice.

Stylist Jemma Harris, who organised the event with salon owner Theo Silvesten, said: “Every year the salon holds a charity day and we chose a cause close to our hearts. This year was no exception.

"It was a no brainer to support Noah’s Ark as one our clients, six year old Katie and her family is supported by them.

“Together we made this event a great success for such a worthwhile cause."

Shane Richie, an ambassador for the charity, said: “I really enjoyed lathering up, washing hair and having a natter with the clients – it’s not so different from the chit chat with my mates at the Queen Vic.

“I have been supporting Noah’s Ark for a couple of years now – it’s a great charity and does an amazing job for lots of kids and their families.”

Other activities included karaoke, face painting, raffle and auction which in total raised £8,000 for the hospice.

The money will be used to support the charity’s play scheme, siblings support programme, family support volunteer service, family days and specialist carers.
