Glitz and glamour was the theme when fashion students showed off their latest designs on the catwalk this week.

Barnet and Southgate College pupils pooled their talents to put on a show filled with music, fashion, photography exhibitions, hairdressing and beauty tips at Brent Cross shopping centre.

Hair and beauty student Kamila Agayea, 18, was one of the models strutting her stuff in front of shoppers at Wednesday’s show.

She said: “I was a little nervous before I stepped onto the catwalk but the cheers from the crowd were amazing.

“The theme of this year’s showcase was glitz and glamour and all of the fashion and hair designs reflected this.

“We’ve been preparing for the show for several weeks to ensure it all looks amazing and goes smoothly – it’s definitely been the best thing about my course so far. I’ve loved every minute.”

Shoppers were also treated to mini makeovers by beauty students, while photography pupils took the chance to display some of their images they have been working on over the past term.

Barnet and Southgate College principal David Byrne said: “Collaborations of this nature are fundamental in terms of the student experience and generate a rewarding and professional perspective, developing their confidence to step into the commercial world and securing a job.”
