There will be football and face painting in Mill Hill tomorrow in memory of a budding musician.

Aspiring musician and keen footballer Anthony ‘Diktion’ Bayele, 22, who lived in Mill Hill and Finchley, died suddenly in November days before releasing his second EP.

To celebrate what would have been Mr Bayele’s 23rd birthday, his friends are throwing a party at Mill Hill Powerleague in Pursley Road to raise money to release his EP Cerebro and help launch the careers of other young musicians.

Mr Bayele’s friend Joe Tanner, who helped create the Diktion Project in his memory, said: “Anthony died days before his EP was meant to be released. We’re working to raise money to release the EP and produce a clothing line to continue the legacy of a good friend.

“Anthony had no funds to produce his music and boost his career. The Diktion Project will give other young musicians the chance he didn’t have.”

The event, which kicks off at 12pm, will centre around a five-a-side football tournament in which 20 teams will take part.

There will also be activities for children including penalty shoot-outs and training from Total Football Academy, as well as a goody bag.

Other entertainment will include face painting and magic from Finchley magician 14-year-old Benji Taylor, whose career the Diktion Project is helping to launch.

Food including pulled pork and jerk chicken will be provided by a pop-up restaurant manned by aspiring chefs.

Mr Tanner added: “We’ve had phenomenal support from businesses including UK Tyres, the Dignity pub in Finchley Central and Woodside Locksmiths, who are donating prizes and providing mini games for the children. They knew Anthony and wanted to be part of the event.”

“The event is about the community, we didn’t want a small event but one that is open to the public and free for them to enjoy.

"The day is not-for-profit. Any extra money will go to Save the Children.”
