A dump truck caused disruption on a busy commuter road when it ended up vertical after colliding with a bridge.

The metal open-box was knocked off the main body of the lorry when it collided with the walkway over the North Circular Road at approximately 1pm yesterday.

The crash, which was near to Woodheyes Road, caused massive tailbacks with traffic jams still lining the road at 8pm.

Two people were on the bridge at the time of the incident and were treated by paramedics.
